SDHC Apathy Continues

But That’s Work

Once more I reminded myself what a sleazy, incompetent, criminal enterprise the San Diego Housing Commission of San Diego CA is. That it is sponsored, tolerated, and enabled by San Diego city government, supported by San Diego’s construction industry, goes to show that city government in San Diego has earned the title of one of the top ten corrupt city governments in the United States.

How have I determined this?

The SHC’s hostility towards the poor, senior, and disabled, and their apathy regarding keeping on-line information current. It is my impression that of all the “affordable” apartments listed in their (purported) affordable housing guide (AHG), the great majority are not even close to being affordable by any means, and only a rare few actually provide housing for those with very low or low income.

Then you have their list of single resident occupancy hotels. Which, at present includes the…

  • Hotel San Diego
  • 339 West Broadway
  • San Diego CA 92101
  • (619)234-0221

Go ahead and call them. Look up the address in San Diego Ca and see what you find. If you are within driving distance, drive by and see what you see. It’s been awhile since I went by there, but by now a new extension to downtown San Diego’s federal complex should be well under way. The Hotel San Diego of San Diego CA was demolished and razed more than a decade ago. Long before the SDHC’s reported update of their AHG.

To sum up, there is an ongoing series of crimes in the city of San Diego involving, fraud, deception, malfeasance, and misrepresentation. Crimes for which the San Diego Housing Commission is guilty, guilty, guilty. Crimes the San Diego city government is an accessory to, with the collusion of San Diego’s building administration. Add to which is the fact that all three parties have shown a prejudice, bigotry, and stereotyping that would make a klansman blanch.

So if you are poor, a senior, or disabled be wary about moving to San Diego. City agencies in this town are hostile to you, and the city government consists of marionettes manipulated by the construction industry.

Wait till a very severe winter hits this city, and thousands of the homeless,- poor, elderly, and disabled die of exposure thanks to inadequate shelter. They may be joined by city officials hung from light poles.

Interpretations

How We See things

Very often I find how we reach a conclusion depends on how we see things. As an example, some time ago this woman director of a gene testing lab had occasion to test what she was told were sasquatch samples. Her conclusion was, the animal in question was a hybrid of human and ape. Later I got to see copies of some of the notes, and came to the conclusion that a final, polished report would have been a lot better.

And then, some time later, something struck me. In those notes gorilla genes were mentioned a lot. That got me to thinking, and it occurred to me that the sasquatch is not descended from the same line as lead to Man, but Is actually more closely related to the gorilla. May even be more closely related to the gorilla than any other ape.

Even more recently I noticed a problem with our conclusion that gravity warps space-time.

Take object A, a mass of 1 million metric tons in space. Then object B, a mass of 1 metric tons goes by. We see the trajectory of B change to describe a curve, in current thought, because space-time is curved in just that fashion at that distance from A.

However, were B to be travelling at a slower momentum, the curve would be more pronounced. At a faster momentum, less pronounced. I expect physicists would explain it as the actual curving of space-time also depends on the velocity of the smaller mass. I see a problem with that.

it complicates matters.

Much like engineering, science works on a basic principle. The KISS principle

KISS?

Keep it simple, stupid.

Or, as I like to put it: The simplest solution that answers the question is usually the best (my emphasis)

What’s going on as B passes A by?

B is being affected by two forces. First is B’s velocity as it travels through space. Remember that an object in motion stays in motion unless acted upon by an external forces. Second is A’s gravity, which pulls on B. It is this external force that alters B’s Trajectory. B’s path is affected by both forces, and so B’s path curves. If B moved faster the curve would be less because the forward motion would take B further. If B moved slower the curve would be greater because forward motion for B would be less.

No need for space-time to curve, B’s trajectory is influenced by two forces; B’s velocity and A’s gravity.

Which means, if I may extrapolate, is that the basic forces; gravity, electromagnetic, weak, and strong; don’t curve space-time. Indeed, they may have no real effect on space-time, instead working through a mechanism we don’t yet know about. Or maybe there  really are photons and gluons and stuff like that.

And that leads to more questions. Such as, are photons massless, or are photons at the right mass to move at the speed of light, while gravitons have even less mass, and so can move at a higher velocity.

Or maybe space-time is bent, but only in one direction, towards the mass in question. So that B does indeed fall down the resulting slope, while at the same time moving along its regular path. Think of it this way, mass does not curve space-time, mass depresses space-time.

On Dangerous Journeys Magick

Yes, this related to the Dangerous Journeys roleplaying system, being concerned with what magick is and how it works in the system.

In the worlds of Dangerous Journeys magick is not entirely what you think it should be. In DJ magick is the ability to use a fundamental force known as heka, related to gravity, electromagnetic, the weak, and the strong. Those able to use heka are able to create effects of various sorts.

However, DJ magick is not wish fulfillment. You must have the ability to use heka. You must learn the best way to use heka to create the effect(s) you want. You must be able to focus on what you are doing, keep the focus, and learn how to ignore distractions. Using magick is not something you can do off the cuff, unless you are using a psychogenic power. You need an education in the art.

Even worse, you can’t stutter, mumble, or mispronounce words. You have to enunciate, speak in complete sentences, and mean to do what you mean to do. That is, act and speak with the full intention of creating a desired result.

Which isn’t always easy, and that is why it is possible to fail in your casting, or even create an effect you really didn’t want.

There is one thing you need to remember about magick in Dangerous Journeys; not every DJ roleplaying world will have it, or even to the same extent as other worlds. Some worlds won’t even have patterns, others won’t have effects, psychogenic powers, or even castings. Even when castings are available they won’t always be available the same way from world to world. Compare Unhallowed with Mythus some time.

Next time we’ll be taking a look at what heka is, and the phenomena associated with heka; the patterns, effects, psychogenic powers, and castings. Also with the laws of magick as used in the worlds of Dangerous Journeys.

See you tomorrow.

In Other News

On November 17th, next Monday, I’m going to be interviewed for intake for courses at San Diego City College (SDCC). I’m planning on a self declared major, understand roleplaying guides. And since there is really no such major, as of yet, I get to create it. Some suggested studies include:

  • Roleplaying: What is roleplaying? How does one roleplay? What is the difference between theatrical, film, video, and table top roleplay?
  • What is a guide? How are they different from games? How are they like games?
  • What is story? How is story different from the actions in a roleplaying guide?
  • Communication: Communicating well. Communicating convincingly.
  • Presentation: Getting people engaged. Getting people involved. Getting people interested.
  • Options: Accepting a range of options. Is it necessary to limit the options? Becoming comfortable with options and the unexpected.
  • Plus courses on culture; society; geology, geometry, and geophysics; biology, sociology, history, religion, and anything else a student might learn as a way to make his RPG better.

With a focus on designing and writing the mechanics for an RPG, including mechanics for social interaction, politics, shopping, bargaining, and unexpected events. With an understanding of how life works, and how this understanding can, and will affect RPG play.

I’m thinking, if I can get that far; I’m only sixty after all; I’m going to get a doctorate in this.

The Harm of Bigotry

Community Research Foundation  (CRF) is the group I’m thinking of here, a local firm dedicated, though they won’t admit it, to oppressing and downgrading the mentally ill, and treating them all as though they were incompetent idiots incapable of acting in a responsible manner. In short, the CRF believes in collective guilt, and sincee that is a hallmark of Judaism and Christianity, it amounts to promoting at least one religious establishment. And since the CRF is supported by government monies. that means the foundation is in violation of the first and fourteenth amendments to the U.S. Constitution.

And it fits the particular flavor of authoritarianism to be found in the city of San Diego, CA. Unlike the patronizing bigotry of such as San Francisco CA, San Diego CA practices an oppressive bigotry, under the belief that maybe by oppressing the disabled they can be made to flee for better parts, and leave sacrosanct San Diego for the “right people”.

What, you may ask, occasioned my rant today? The fact that the CRF blocks certain types of web sites on the machines in their computer labs at their club houses in San Diego. File and cloud drives are banned, because the powers that be (PTBs) at CRF are convinced that all hold dirt and filth and bad things. This is known as stereotyping, and is a sign of bigotry. Bigots, by their very nature, are not to be trusted. So when I see my shrink next Monday I’ll be seeing about getting into a mental health clinic run by people who can be trusted.

I’m just tired of frauds, and if I had the resources I’d be looking into the (PTBs) in San Diego to see what charges could be brought against them. Corruption in city government is not restricted to Chicago or Los Angeles alone.

A Swimming Dragon

The footage is from a scene over 100 million years ago, in an alternate fantasy Earth’s version of the Jurassic. The camera that took the film was an experimental magickal construction carried by an experimental magickal time machine.

The time probe in question made the deepest descent into the past that has yet been verified, though there are claims that the probe actually went sideways in time instead of backwards. But the available evidence says it went back into the past.

The footage, about 23 seconds long, is for a dragon. More specifically, a hexapedal, winged, flying dragon. Something known about from the late Triassic. Thing is, this is a four foot long dragon, and it really isn’t flying, it’s more “rowing” through the air using its wings. In addition, it has been noted that the animal’s wings don’t act like wings should, and don’t look like wings should.

Most observers have come to the conclusion that, between size, conformation, and the inadequate wings, this dragon is not getting any lift from those wings. But how is it flying.

The most likely explanation is; this dragon is levitating, using his wings as sculls or oars to propel it through the air. And keep in mind I’m not talking about the sort of levitation made possible by a lighter than air gas, but levitation as made possible by the manipulation known as heka through an inborn talent for doing so through the mind.

And keep in mind that today, at least, dragons don’t consciously will this manipulation into effect, it’s more an instinctual ability.

When did this sort of dragon flight first appear?

The answer to that gets to wait for tomorrow.
